A-Frame, Sidewalk and Banner Temporay Signs are Now Allowed in Chelmsford

Did you know that temporary signs are now allowed in Chelmsford?  This includes A-Frame Signs, Sidewalk Signs, Banners and Corrugated Signs.

For years businesses in Chelmsford were unable to enhance their advertising efforts using outdoor signage due to tight regulations that disallowed all temporary signs including a-frames, banners, posters and more. Now, through the recent changes to the Chelmsford Sign Bylaw, we are finally able to use these types of signs to advertise our businesses.

Of course, no Bylaw comes without rules. There are limitations. You can advertise your business using temporary signs up to 12 square feet once per quarter for 14 days. You do need to apply for a permit at the Building Department, but there is no fee. When applying for your permit, you will need to let the Building Department know some specifics about the content of your sign. Call or visit the Building Department at the town hall for more specifics.
